Chemical properties and applications of PPA plastics
2023-05-30
PPA plastic, chemical name polyphthalamide resin, is a semi-aromatic polyamide made of terephthalic acid or phthalic acid. Suzhou Qinjia Plastic Raw Materials Co., Ltd. is a professional plastic particle manufacturers, PPA plastic both semi-crystalline, also have amorphous, its glass transition temperature of about 255°F. The amorphous PPA is mainly used for occasions requiring barrier function; Semi-crystalline PPA resin is mainly used for injection molding, but also for other melting processing processes, the latter is mainly introduced below - semi-crystalline PPA resin, especially noted outside. Semi-crystalline PPAS have a melting point of about 590°F and are fed in opaque rectangular slices.
PPA particles are stronger and more stable than fatty polyamides, such as nylon 6,6, etc. Less sensitive to moisture; Thermal function is better; Creep, fatigue and chemical resistance are also much better. For example, PPA resin containing 45% glass staple fiber has a tensile strength of about 276MPa, a bending modulus spanning 13786MPa, and a thermal deformation temperature (HDT) of 549°F. Even with mineral-filled PPA, the tensile strength can reach 117MPa. PPA resins are not as ductile as nylon 6,6; however, unreinforced impact modified PPA resins have been announced with notched cantilever beam impact strengths up to 20 ft · lb/inch.
Because of the excellent physical, thermal and electrical functions of PPA resin, especially the moderate cost, it has a wider range of use. These features, together with excellent chemical resistance, make PPA a candidate for many aspects of industry such as cars. The trend towards better aerodynamic body planning along with more functional motors will improve the temperature of the starter chassis, making traditional thermoplastic plastics seem unsuitable. These new requirements make PPA a candidate for automotive headlight reflectors, bearing housings, belts, sensor housings, fuel line components, and electrical components.
